Cable TV Providers

A recent Internet search for cable TV providers netted 35 results. Since most areas have just one cable TV provider, most people have little or no choice as to who their service provider is. There are of course other alternatives, such as satellite TV and some of the phone companies are now starting to provide cable TV service. Most of us, however, get comfortable with our service provider and are reluctant to change unless the savings are significant, or we are having problems with out providers.

Cox

Cox started out as a family owned company and is more than 100 years old. They also have other interests such as Newspaper, advertising, and even a car auction. Cox has thousands of subscribers in various parts of the country, and call centers that provide 24 hour technical support, as they also provide VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) telephone service and high-speed Internet.

Perhaps one downside to Cox is, in some parts of the country anyway, customers are only allowed to have one DVR (digital video recorder) where most other cable providers allow 2 or more per household. The plus side definitely is the ability to combine 3 major services into one bill and with one service provider.

Time Warner Cable

Time Warner Cable was name Cable Operator of the year in 2004 by Multichannel News. Time Warner also provides telephone, Internet, and traditional cable TV services. Time Warner entered the cable television venue with name recognition because of its company’s huge holdings in other interests.

Name recognition is nice, and it might help you to acquire customers, but it won’t keep them if the product and service aren’t of high quality. In December, 2005, Time Warner Cable announced it had acquired its millionth telephone customer.

Just as Cox is, Time Warner Cable is active in the community and continues to give back to many if not all of the communities in which they are involved.
